RAM Speed Help

Thread Starter
I have recently purchased a new 8GB set of Patriot memory to replace my 4GB OCZ memory and have been noticing that I am not getting the full 1600MHz and only 1333MHz (Somewhere around there). Also the stock memory latency is 8-9-8-24 but in my motherboards BIOS it is set at 9-9-9-24. I had just recently overclocked my CPU to 3.71GHz with the old RAM and then after 4 hours of stable testing in Prime95 I put in the Patriot memory. It is PC12800 RAM but it is not running like it supposed to. I'm sorry if this is a common problem or is answered somewhere else but can you please help me? Thanks

You have to set your ram settings in BIOS.

Manually set to 1600 and manually set your timings also.

I have an ASUS motherboard with ASUS BIOS so where is the RAM frequency setting? I can find the RAM timings settings. Is it the DRAM Frequency option because all those settings are over what the stock RAM frequency is supposed to be. Thanks

The closest setting to 1600MHz was 1560MHz so I set it to that. Will that be fine? Thanks

yeah 1560 is good, i'm guessing next one up is 1755? i wouldn't go that high. now you can manually set your memory timings, since you're 40mhz slower than rated speed, see if you can get your timing to 8-8-8-24. personally i think it should be easy since it's 8-9-8-24 rated, run memtest86 to check if new timing is stable. if it is, you can gradually lower the timings more to 7-8-7-22 perhaps?

have fun tweaking!
