Q9550 @ 3.8GHz (My first OC)

Thread Starter
So after all my research and countless hours spent reading old threads about this CPU and board. I finally got my Q9550 + 750i FTW to pass a one hour long P95 Blend test with no BSODs, lock ups, etc. It passed the small FFTs for about 10 hours while I was at work. I also did the pencil mod on the 750i FTW.

This is my first overclock ever and I'm pretty happy with myself. I will run a Blend test overnight to make sure it's completely stable (even though something tells me its not lol). I really want to push for 4 GHz but I've read that its just not possible on this board and I'm only running 800MHz DDR2 as is.

Here's my CPU-Z validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1852472

CPU Core: 1.3625V
CPU FSB: 1.30V
Memory: 2.1V
SPP: 1.45V
NF200: 1.40V

GTLVREF: All lanes at +50mV (I was going to tweak them to try and get stable, but as soon as I set them it passed the blend test for a hour).

All four cores never peaked over 60C in Core Temp.

I will update this post in a few minutes with my voltages that I used in my BIOS settings. I would upgrade to a different board or RAM, but I figure if I upgrade I'm just going to build a completely new system.

Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

P.S. This is my 24/7 personal computer that I use to game on. I got the motivation to overclock so I could live stream me and my friends gaming.

Good luck with your overclock. From my experience, passing Prime95 is not the tell all test. For most it may be, but not for me. I cannot get one minute with Prime95 with my highest overclock, but, I can play BC2.

My advice, overclock as high as you can. As long as it will do what you want it to do, then you are good. Too much emphasis is placed on Prime95 and OCCT. Unless, of course, you are selling the cpu or motherboard and want to prove it can pass those tests.

I think it's pretty stable. I ran Prime95 overnight and it ran for seven hours without any errors. I guess I'll try for 3.9 GHz next and see what I can do!
