three 24" or one big one?

Thread Starter
I am debating on whether i want three 24" 1080p monitors for nvidia surround, or a single larger monitor (27" maybe?) with 1080p or higher resolution.

i should have two GTX 560 Ti cards in SLI in about three days, and my current monitor is a HP f2304.

should i go nvidia surround, one huge monitor, or keep my current one (which i love)?

I would say a good 28".

Asus make some nice monitors. Get a LED Backlit 28" and enjoy

And use that current monitor as a second monitor (dual monitor setup).

Depends on what you're doing and what games you like.

For workstation usage, multi-monitor is great. Gaming can also be great. Some big titles (I'm looking at YOU MassEffect...and other UnReal Engine games) are utterly broken beyond usability in multi-monitor.

I wouldn't go back.

I'm regrettably only on a single 30" monitor and came from 3 24" monitors and I much rather like having the 2560x1600 resolution. I'll be getting a secondary monitor soon though as they are very useful.

if i decide on a single large monitor, i will keep my current monitor as a second monitor in portrait mode, for viewing PDF files while writing reports, and other school stuff.

i game, do school work (such as papers and crap), and am also an art student so i am using adobe programs a lot.

so far im thinking one big monitor.

I seriously don't get the point why would someone bother to get extra monitors when you can use one? I would be rather annoyed having cut out monitors squished together and game weird on my desk.

Stick with ONE big monitor and you're good enough. You don't wanna lose some framerates anyways.

As an art student, do you need accurate color reproduction?

That need right there calls for nice high-end monitor(s). El Cheapo won't make you happy going from LCD->paper..which you probably don't have a budget for more than one.
