Stick with ONE big monitor and you're good enough. You don't wanna lose some framerates anyways.
I felt the same way at one point. Couple years ago I had a 22" 1050 monitor with my old rig. Then I bought a 27" 1080 for a upgrade. For kicks I went ahead and setup that 22" and at first said "oh, thats nice...". But, since I am a gamer, mostly MMOs (EQ, WoW, etc) that second monitor came in handy. Looking up maps, quests, gear, etc. Then I went back to school and had my second monitor holding research info while I worked on reports/homework on my 27". Or I could just go ahead and pull up netflix, music on the 2nd monitor. I have tried to just go back to the single monitor to save some desk space, but I always find myself putting my 22" PoS up there next to it lol.
OP- I would say get a nice 27" monitor then use an extra monitor to the side for other stuff. But don't go to big. As I'm writing this, I am using my 40" plasma I just got last month to try out the whole huge screen idea. Its good. But not great. I played a few games of Black Ops on it and it is difficult to look at everything on the screen and still be efficient at shooting at people lol. Booted up WoW real fast, but haven't had a chance to really test that out. Dirt 3 looked nice, but again, just a little to much to look at and take in. And also, I'm noticing that text looks kinda "meh".
I use a Samsung P2770. GREAT monitor and I highly reccomend it. Beautiful display. But I have also read great reviews about Asus monitors, which will be my next brand to upgrade to. The only gripe I have about my Samsung, is the stand its on. Its wobbley, but as long as your not bumping into your desk/no screwing with it, its fine.
