Help me build complete new rig. - Page 2

2600k will do essentially nothing for you as far as gaming is concerned. Definitely save the money and put it towards another 5770 or a new GPU altogether, because if you want to play the latest games you'll need a bit more graphics power. Also, you won't need 750w. Go with the Corsair TX650 v2; that'll be more then enough (even for two 5770s.)

If you can get to a Micro Center, you can get a i7 960 for 199.99 or a i7 2600 for 249.99. Not sure how much tax and fees are over in Socal but it shouldnt be more than 270 on NE.

I'd either look into going for P55/i5 or yes 1155 boards just due to more power.

i5-2500k can beat a i7-950 no?

If you already have a 5770 I would either just tough it out for awhile and wait for 7XXX series from AMD. I don't think going from 5770 to 6870 your going to see the world of difference, performance increase yes, worth the hassle, no.

Ok new build for an i5 build.

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115072

ASRock P67 EXTREME4 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157229

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231277

CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005

New total is $582 after tax and shipping and gives me plenty of money for the 6870, but I'll still need to wait for my paycheck for the extra $30 or so I'll still need in order to buy the 6870.

Good choice in my opinion that you changed to a 2500k, it should outperform a 960 and overclock easily.

I want to give you some advice on 6870's..don't go with Sapphire. Mine runs games fine but it runs way too hot. When I play the witcher it gets up to 87C! Not to mention is sounds like a jet engine.

Yeahh for gaming I think the 2500k would do pretty well for just pure gaming. And yeahh I was looking at the HIS brand of the 6870

With a 2500k and a 6870 you can run witcher 2 at about 50 fps everything ultra with ubersampling off. Well that's about the performance I have with them.
