LGA1155 with 1156 socket fan?

now, all i know is that they are compatible, but will a 1156 socket fan be efficient with the LGA1155? any help will be very appreciated.

1156 socket fan?

you mean a heatsink designed for 1156 socket?

will be fine on 1155. both processors are designed for 95W. sandybridge is generally cooler when compared to 1156 processor.

read my original post, i know they are compatible.
i just asked if it affects the efficiency of the fan.
also, CPU Evercool TRANSFORMER 4 + i5-2500k = good combination? thanks.

Yeah that would be fine, i usually recommend the hyper 212+ for a budget solution,

How would it hinder efficiency? A cooler designed to dissipate 150w will still be able to dissipate 150w on either socket.

Only thing that is different is pincount between 1156 and 1155. Base contact is essentially the same. Which means the coolers footprint is still plenty to cover the whole of the IHS.

Many of the 775 coolers ran just fine on 1156 and 1366 sockets, you just had to get a mounting adapter, not to mention some boards used 775 mounting and 1156 mounting to leave the consumer options. Same deal with 1155 and 1156, the cooler is still as efficient.

The key is getting a hsf designed to dissipate the amount of heat you plan on generating. As has been stated already, both sockets cpu's are at the 95w envelope, which means either socket style designed mounting system will work.

That cooler you have selected would do fine, not a top pick imo, maybe hyper 212+? still cheap and good cooler.

what about CPU Scythe JAPAN Reeven? would that be a better choice?

EDIT: the store that builds my computer doesn't have hyper 212+ fan.
