Recertified gtx 470?

Well my buddy is building his rig and he wants a card around the ~180-190 price rang and he was going to choose the hd 6870, but he prefers nvidia overall and he found this and asked me what I think about recertified cards, but i really have no clue. Is there a bad reason they were recertified? What does it even mean?

Hi,
Here's a post from awhile back about recertified cards that may help you on your chioce, i'm sure the answers would be the same with this post.

Had a google around and as long as the warrenty is in full then it may well be a sound purchase, a 90 day warrenty would be no good, like google tells me, you can probly get a brand new card for a few $ more.

I personally owned a recertified PNY 470 that I purchased from Newegg and it worked great. Not only for me, but for another member on here as well that bought it from me.

Also, I love your avatar. I do want to know where the gold is at.

I personally think there are cheaper/better alternatives than a 470, even recert @ lowered price. Could always look for a 560ti on sale (go for 200 cdn retail here).

Oh, that's a tempting price. I could use another evga gtx 470.
