Side note:

What in the world is a Modular in programming? I cannot seem to understand.

Is the statement (2 % 2) true? If so, how come?
At first I read it modular programming without the in

Mod returns the rest of the division essentially.
Usually the statement should be ((2%2)==0) ) and that should return true because 2/2 would have a rest of 0.
However some compilers could assume that the default condition, since you're using %, is ==0, and would return true to (2%2).

Hm, so:

2 % 2 = 0
4 % 2 = 0
10 % 5 = 0

Whereas

8 % 7 = 1
15 % 7 =1
5 % 7 = 0,7 OR 1? or 0?

The things in bold are true. (at least I think so. Haven't used mod in ages)
You should get a compiler and test these(and later) things. I'll compile them and test when I get back home.

Working in Flash would help you get an idea of what all you need to do with not really worrying to much about the looks department. Team I work with here in Nashville made a few games and have them up on Newgrounds. We are currently in the process of making a UDK game to sell on Steam.

You can very easily pick up UDK and work with it, especially Kismet which is a graphical programming language that UDK uses unless you want to get into learning UnrealScript which again resembles Java, C/C++, and some C#.

Don't worry to much about graphics at first, just learn the basics then you are good to go.

And for the love of god don't get into programming AI, if you really value your choice in learning how to design a game, make that your last step. If you try to get into programming and decide you want to start with an AI, you will quickly lose interest lol. Some people are good at it, you might be, I wasn't when I first started programming a few years back. I started to get into AI and my focus went to Level Design/Documentation after that happened :x.
Haha, just the idea of creating artificial intelligence sounds amazing for some reason.

I absolutely despise flash for making games, it's great for movies or little cartoons and what-have-you but I wouldn't touch it for games with a 100ft. pole. But that's just my opinion, take it as you will.

It just comes of the idea of 'making' someone. To watch your creations act towards things and how it responds to things, that you've programmed. You can essentially interact with something you've created. Maybe you guys aren't looking at it from my angle. Or maybe i'm just over interested about it

Everything.. I would never touch 2.4* after using 2.5*...
2.49 is like Microsoft paint, it can make a HD drawing, but its not very nice and requries alot of effort, while 2.5* is like having photoshop with alot of options and the easy ability to make stuff alot nicer.
