CPU Pin bent ?

Thread Starter
I just noticed one cpu pin on my ASUS P7P55D Deluxe was bent.
I managed to push it back into position, but I see that it hasn't got a rounded end anymore like the rest of the pins.

This is what I mean :

Normally the pins are shaped something like this

Attachment 213813

But this one pin is shaped more like this

Attachment 213814

It's also slightly shorter then the other pins, and a little darker in color (looks like it was burnt, but ever so slightly).
Could this be an issue when I hook it up ? Can it cause damage to CPU or PSU ? Could it be the reason why my PSU stopped working couple days ago ?
I don't know **** about this, so I really need some help here.
I'm afraid to hook it up...

Try to get a piece of glass that will fit on to Your socket and see if the bent pin will stick with the piece of glass. If so, You don't have to worry about.

Edit: Also I can be at the same high as the rest of the pins, but mostly it looks like it's lower, or slightly moved to right/left. I had the same issue with my MSI Eclipse SLI long time ago, but I've fixed it and everything works perfect.

You mean if the tip of the pin will touch the glass ? I don't think so, cause it's slightly shorter then the other pins...

EDIT : So how did you fix it ? I managed to push it back in the right position, so now it's alligned with the rest, but it's still shorter, and looks more black-ish colored instead of golden like the rest...

It should touch. Or You can try to push it higher with a needle, but do it very carefully and slowly. Just put the needle under bent pin and try to get it little higher, if You'll do this slowly You'll be ok.

Can't get it as high as the rest. It still a tiny bit shorter then the others. Thank you for your help, buddy !

It will be looking like this, if it's at the same high or close as the rest so it will work now. I don't think it's possible to make it look the same as the rest of the pins, unless You are very patience guy

Wow, you should really be able to pick it back up with a needle, or with some tweezers.

If it was up there, it should come back again doesn't it? Lol.

And so I don't have to worry that it looks a little burnt ? (looks like it had shorted out or something.just the one pin though)

I did get it back up there with the rest of the pins, but the issue is that it doesn't have the rounded tip anymore, and it looks darker then the rest. All pins have this shiny golden color, but this one is more black-ish.

To be honest I wouldnt chance it, being that it shows signs of excessive heat due to short or what not. The discoloration says the pin was subjected to more stress than it should have been . Is you board still under warranty? And was this bent when you got it? I just dont think its worth frying components over a bent pin ... usually I would tell someone to straighten it, but if its truly discolored that much and the fact the pin is no longer shaped like the others, makes it risky.
