htc EVO charging port broken

Really my only option until I make it to the Sprint Repair store, is to just charge the battery with a usb cable.

I'm still doing research. Does anyone know how to properly charge a cell phone battery with just a USB cable?

From what I have gathered. You would just cut one end off the usb cable and take the - and + wires and attach it to battery leads. Then just plug it into a computer. I also seen a charge port that was stripped out of another phone that goes between the battery and usb cable. The charge port is a 5v output. If someone could clear this up for me.

Battery specs

1500 mAh
3.7vdc
5.55whr

Thank you

good luck, and don't burn down your house! Seriously. Put it in a metal or oven proof container.

Buy a wall charger or take your phone to a sprint store.

took it to sprint....all the refurbs were on backorder. So they hook me up with a new one. Also, if you have an evo and using the stock battery. I purchased a extended 3500 mAh battery. I haven't put my phone on a charge yet. 13 hours with 55% battery left. Stock battery, if my phone wasn't in my pocket....it was on a charger.
