Dirt 3 + 11.5b, crashes for anyone?

Thread Starter
Ok so I got this game but each time I get into race, even the first race at dirt tour at Finland, I get so many game freezes, sound still playing but the screen of me playing totally freeze for about 6 seconds and then screen goes black then I come back to the race again.
Happens so many times that is really frustrating and till now I haven't finished the first race.
However when it crashed I alt+tab'd and found this

I'm using 11.5b drivers and my sig rig @ 1280x1024 resolution.
What I tried:
-Delete the hardware config file and reboot
-Forced Dx9 and forced 4core usage
-Run as Administrator and changing graphics options from Ultra to Low/Resolution and Refresh rates
Ideas?

Looks like its not 11.5b issue, I rolled back to 11.4 and the problem still exists.
Any options should I change in the driver?

that normally comes up when the OC is too high on your card. Works perfectly for me 11.5b and DIRT3. I get 70 - 100fps

It's a codemasters game, that is synonymous with ctd.

You must be new? CTD = crash to desktop. Go read on codies forum and you can read about the massive failure regarding CTD dating back to dirt2, f1 2011, and now dirt 3.

ohhh sorry mate, not heard that one before!

I have all 3 of those games and none of them crash to desktop for me I had to tweek f1 2010 to work with my 1090t as that crashed but other than that all 3 titles are running great with 11.5b and 6950 on my pc.

I personally only get the error message above when my overclock is too high. Some games the OC will be fine and others like DIRT 3 and CRYSIS 2 will lock up at random times. For example i played dirt 2 fine at 925 / 1400 but then crysis 2 and DIRT 3 I got the driver not responding message posted above. Try lowering your clocks and try again

(note I need to update my signature) I was getting a similar issue both with World of Warcraft when I enabled Multisampling and Dragon Age Origins when I enabled some form of filter (name escapes me). My 6970 isn't overclocked, though I am overclocking my i5 2500k. I am running drivers 11.6 on a fresh install of windows 7 from last week. My only suggestion to you is try disabling those filters in your game. I have no problem running AA in both games though. I still am tweaking a bit and haven't actually tested my CPU to be completely stable yet.

Anyone know if an unstable CPU overclock could cause driver crashes?

Edit: Totally didn't notice I was resurrecting an old post, was just searching for people with similar issues to mine. If you happened to fix your issue let us know anyway, and maybe it will help me. thanks

looks like a core overheating to me. I had the same problem with a 4670 back in 2010 and it had a problematic core.
