Best Value 775 Board

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I have a Pentium Dual-Core E5800 (3.2 GHz stock) CPU and I want to upgrade my motherboard. My current board is a stock Acer board which is terrible for overclocking and for upgrading new hardware.

I am looking for a board with these minimum specs:

- supports my CPU (Pentium Dual-Core E5800, 800 MHz FSB, 65W TDP) (I don't think I'll upgrade it)
- at least 1 PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot (I only have one graphics card now, but it would be nice to have an extra slot for the future) (my card is NVIDIA)
- supports DDR2 667 MHz RAM (at least 2 slots)
- has overclocking features in BIOS
- has a good built-in sound chipset (I don't have a sound card)
- doesn't overheat/doesn't need a lot of cooling (I have a terrible airflow)
- ATX form factor at most (no larger)
- as cheap as possible (below $60 if possible)
- I don't really care about noise, but it shouldn't be too loud
- By the way, my heatsink + fan uses a back plate and screws to connect to the board, not the push pin design most Intel heatsinks use (Google it if you don't know what I mean), so the board should support that
- it would be nice to have extra features such as RAID, SATA 6 GB/s or USB 3.0, but they aren't necessary

Thanks for any suggestions!

Anything P45 and Asus make the best value for money boards for 775. Gigabyte if your looking to spend a bit more cash.

Your not going to find a USB3.0 that supports DDR2 memory, only DDR3 memory. However if DDR2 is more crucial then go for a P5Q.

If DDR3 isn't an issue i suggest this:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...=GA-G41M-combo Great support for 95w CPU's, supports DDR2 and DDR3 ram, 1333Mhz FSB. Strong components and a great price. The G41 chipset is not the most popular for 755, but it is sure damn good.
