Welcome to the Overclock.net Overclocking Race Season. The season starts June 1st and end August 31st. Each month we will have a competition done in a racing format. The goal of the competition is to bench fast throughout the month. Not just post your fastest run at the end of the competition.
How the competition works: The first two days of the competition are our Pole Position entries. Here you have a chance for points for being "First off the Line" with a 'full set' of submissions for each benchmark. The fastest submissions will win the Pole Position for more points. As Pole Position's 48 hour period ends, the race laps begin. When a Lap Flag is posted, the leaderboard is updated. You will then get points for your overall placement during that lap. Laps Flags will be posted randomly and will be no shorter then 2 days and no longer then a week. So there could be anywhere from ~4-14 laps each month. At the end of the race when the Checkered Flag is posted, the points for over all ranking will be based on the level of competition(# of players) for that hardware class. Thus, playing a class with fewer players can make it easier to maintain points during the laps, but it will limit your Checkered flag points. You do not have to submit for each lap. Your scores carry over from lap to lap. Competition layout -First off the line: Be the first submission off the starting line in your hardware class. -Pole Position: Fastest submission during the first 48 hours of the competition. -Next there will be laps. Points will be given at the end of each lap based on the fastest results. Laps will be random. They will be no shorter then 48 hours and no longer then a week. Number of laps is undetermined and may change with each month's competition. The goal is to try and maintain as fast a submission as possible and no sandbagging. -Checkered flag: At the finish line there will be points for the top 3 fastest submissions and again additional lap points for the final lap. -Season winners: Each month's points will be tallied together at the end of the season for a final ranking for grand prizes. Point system: -First off the line: 5 points -Pole Position: 5 points -lap points: 10 points for first place, 9 points for second, 8 points for third and so on. Points are cumulative 3 benches for each lap. -Checkered flag points will be based on number of participants per class. 20 Participants per class = 40 for first place, 39 for second and so on. (Minimum 10 points for first) Competition Season Benchmarks: June: 3Dmark03, 3Dmark05, Aquamark3 (GPU classes w/ SB class[x48 multi limit imposed.]) July: wPrime 32M v1.55, GeekBench v2.1.13, and 3d movement August: TBA Official rules will be announced with each months competition thread. Prizes: June: Random give-a-ways, a MSI GTX 570 and a MSI Tinergy 1156 motherboard. NOTE: Benchmark Editors don't win prizes. We play for fun. |
