Disillusioned with PC Gaming - Page 2

Some of the free games are actually turning out better than games you have to pay for. Some of which that I play are Need for Speed: World and League of Legends. I also have been sticking to MMOs since I know they are consistent (usually). I am in the same phase as you are. I havent bought a true new game since Fallout 3. Next one I am guaranteed to buy is Skyrim, the modding community keeps games interesting.

I felt the same way around 6 months ago, pretty much anything I played I was bored of within an hour of playing. You just need to expand your horizons, start playing new games with different concepts. Then you will start to appreciate the old games you got bored of and the cycle continues.

I cycle as well. I have bought and sold 4 PS3's, all due to the fact that I have on and off urges to play a certain game months down the line. it would be more economical for me to you know, keep it, but id rather use the money to splurge on depreciating computer parts

Same happened to me...

Ever since I got my i7 2600k and my x2 HD6970's I have not played that much at all, I easily get bored of playing ANY game.

I think I will be taking a break until end of Summer with no gaming at all or at least try not to play much at all.

Hmmm, maybe its because I just got into computer gaming this year but I'm having a lot of fun playing a bunch of newer games. BFBC2, MOH, Crysis 1+2, COD MW, Metro 2033, etc. All of those are great games with interesting stories and twists. Crysis 2 and BFBC2 really have great storylines IMO.

Maybe all the hate for these games comes from jaded gamers who have just played so many games that any new game seems derivative and boring these days?

PC gamers need to expand their genre horizon. Most of you probably get bored because the majority of popular games are shooters, which are all very similar. Play some rpg's, jrpg's, or real time strategies. Jrpg's are very long and plot driven games, whereas shooters are mostly gameplay driven.

Maybe try STALKER series? Or take a break. I don't think anyone can talk you into anything but the fact is, the business has changed a lot over the past 5 years and there is no going back. But if you can't do the occasional indie title or RPG or RTS, you're pickings are going to remain on the COD or other blockbuster timeline, which is where most FPS is focused. And Valve seems focused on co-op titles and will remain this way according to what Newell said (after Portal 2). But good luck waiting for any new ip, they are a bit slow with that.

Probably, I got into PC gaming about 2 years ago and I mainly played FPS games, and I am bored of all them already, I have played;

- BFBC2
- COD4 > MW2 > Black Ops
- Mafia II
- Portal 2
- GTA IV + Episodes
- Team Fortress 2
- L4D1 & L4D2
- Dirt 2, F1 2010, Dirt 3...

I got bored of all of them...

Hopefully F1 2011 and Battlefield 3 get me into hardcore gaming again, I bought The Witcher 2 last night and I am enjoying it a lot so far, hopefully this is the start of a new gaming era for me (), I haven't played much ever since I got my rig back in January.
