on alc889, i couldnt hear some details during Lights - Face up, and Lights - Savior.

with my xonar dx, i can hear em. lol. they do have some effects. it all depends on your ear itself though, i have almost impeccable hearing though. (i pass almost all hearing tests with 100.)

also huh huh huh, you've never listened to an alc889 in ur life, so zip it.

ALSO consider this.

Creative ships out their Titanium HD with EFFed up settings pre-selected. The other day I took my Titanium HD out and stuffed it in another PCIe slot just to see if I could finally hear a difference. I turned my computer on and the drivers auto-installed. To my surprise, I did hear a difference. First I was very skeptical, but after a lot of back and forth listening, I decided that it was there. I didn't think it sounded better, just different. Like they abused the aperture as any hipster photographist does. I sat there completely dumbfounded. How could this be, I thought. Maybe I had been wrong all along. BUT THEN. Wait a minute, I thought. What settings was I using? AHA, the Titanium HD was auto set to gamer mode with a whole bunch of crappy dehancements selected.

Why would Creative do THAT, I wondered. Obviously because if they had chosen good settings, nobody would have heard a damn difference. They are a millions-billions dollar company. They KNOW what they're doing.
I have heard the ALC888, 888B, 889 and the 1200. They're all similar in quality, and they all sound like garbage compared to even the lowly X-Fi XtremeMusic. Excellent assumption made, Private Cowboy.

I use the Titanium HD with Audio Creation mode, 44.1 kHz, Bit-Matched Playback as I have used on all my X-Fi cards in the past.

This cuad guy is ignorant beyond belief. I guess everyone who spends $30-$150 on sound cards is just doing it for the placebo!

After reading all the comments still not sure if it's worthy or not guys. Both the cards costs same here (30 Euro), so the question is: will I notice any difference in sounds if I invent these 30 euros into dedicated sound card?
The new rig will be something like this: http://www.pccomponentes.com/presupu...daptador_red=0

Stileth Yes it worth it, And you will hear the differences, as-long your speakers or headphones are up to par. if you have dirt cheap speakers/headphones then no you wouldnt. So if you do have subpar speakers/headphones then i suggest you upgrade them as well.

I know people who had been using onboard audio for years and got a sound card like a xonar dg and the differences was big to their ears. a friend i knew for years, I help him find a deal on a xonar DG as he was getting sick of his onboard audio issues was glad that I did and was telling me it was the best thing he did.

Some people like cuad here simply cant tell the differences between them, tho hes one of the few people. My dad hardy can tell but then he really dont care about audio any way. Now my mom cant tell.

He can tell the difference, he just wants to be a dissenting opinion.

Helen Keller could hear the difference.
