gtx 570 overclock problems

Thread Starter
Hello
I have a evga gtx 570 and had it overclocked to 1.75v/900/1800/1900. Everything was fine for a few but when I started medal of honor today I was getting crazy artifacts. Occt and ati tool were both getting errors too. I put it back to stock volts and speeds and I was getting artifacts in the game and errors with occt and ati tool. I was using the new 275.33 nvidia drivers at the time. I changed the drivers back to 270.61 and everything is fine at stock volts and speeds. I overclocked it again to 1.050v/850/1700/1900 and ran occt and ati tool. I haven't had any problems with it now. My question is, Do you think my card is gonna die? Should I return it and go back to my 560 ti sli? Want to know before I but another one so I can have 570 sli. Is it just a driver problem?

Thank You
THOR

Were you checking your temperatures?
And I honestly think pushin 1.75 volts through the GPu is WAYYY too much
But I've never OC'ed before so can't tell
3 options:
1. You were lucky/unlucky
2. You bricked your card and it will die soon (happened to my card, mobo died in the next week.) (but mine was on stock)
3. You corrupted the driver.
Let's hope it was option 3
Good luck.

1.75v on a reference GTX 570? Damn you're lucky that you didn't bust the VRMs as many people have on just even 1.1v, check the killed GTX 570 thread. To say if you did any serious damage, well I don't think anyone can tell you that for certain (although 1.75 volts is seriously insane). Staying on the old drivers is eh though.

Check this thread for future GTX 570 (reference) overclocking:

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/9291...led-570-a.html

I would personally return it, even though I can't say for sure--I'm pretty sure you've done some damage to it. I mean it would be lame to stay on the old drivers until they released another beta or WHQL. Even then switching to a newer set of drivers could still make it artifact. I mean what you're telling me is the card is basically broken with any other drivers.

Have you tried 275.27 beta drivers?

The 570 is a solid card though, I personally have 2 in SLI and keep the OCs and volts safe according to the thread mentioned above. But if you're itching for that performance get the TFIII/DCII or Palit Platinum (I think it is non reference). Even with non-reference 570s like those, 1.75v is still pushing it on the insane side IMO.

Also recognize that gtx 570s and 580s have power throttling in programs like OCCT and furmark, so what may appear stable in those programs might actually blow up in a video game, I think...

EDIT: 1.075v isn't that bad but still card may or may not be damaged (900core is pretty beastly). If it were me I'd make sure it was artifacting on stock with newest drivers in everything I did, not just one game. I thought the number was a little high, wasn't even sure you could even go up to 1.75v lol.

Just guessing, I think the op meant 1.075V.

I'll just add that with the newest 275.33 drivers, I cannot achieve quite as high an OC as I could w/previous drivers (at the same voltage level), and I've seen at least one other user post the same thing.

However, on the one thing I've tested so far (3dMark11) my performance increased more than enough to make up for the tiny loss of FPS incurred by needing to drop my clocks slightly. Not sure it that'll carry forth onto games though.

By the way, what kind of artifacts were you seeing in Medal of Honor, black squares over certain textures?

Those type of artifacts may not be linked to your card but the game engine itself and some issues with AA/AF settings. I think I've googled around a bit and some people got those squares on stock settings, messed with the AA/AF settings and poof they disappeared.

Could also just try a clean 275.33 re-install of drivers. (use a registry cleaner or something)

The artifacts were black squares to the sky looking like grayish metal cones. Hard to describe but it was nothing Ive ever seen before.

Artifacts anything like this?:

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/1034...ver-n-moh.html

If so you could be in the same boat as this guy. But as you said you had errors in OCCT and stuff. Test it out on some other games or benchmarks or something.
