6950 - How to check voltage??

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I have been using Trixx to overclock my 6950. It has unlocked shaders and i have been overclocking to 900 / 1400 @ 1.16v - 100% stable

However, if i go above this, for example 925 / 1400 a few seconds into a game it locks up. I tried raising the voltage to 1.75v and when running kombuster or furmark it still says VDDC : 1.100v no matter what voltage i apply.

Does this mean i have been running 900 / 1400 at stock voltage and it wont let me raise it to overclock further?

Take a look:

you need to use afterburner with the unlocked OC settings

Use MSI Afterburner. It has full voltage control and offers a better overclocking experience.

I used afterburner before and it gives same result. With afterburner you cant set the power control setting to 20% either.

I just looked on GPU-Z and voltage does increase on VDDC reading but anything above 900mhz on the core and my card locks up even with 1.18v

You have to enable manual voltage control in settings.

No, and no. You don't need to use afterburner, it sucks. Trixx sucks too, just not as much as afterburner. You don't need any stupid unlock codes or EULA agreements or whatever for Trixx at least, it just works.

I've been using the registry tweak from racer-X to mod my CCC limits, then if I needed to play with voltage, I'd fire up Trixx and do it like that. AB caused crashes in BFBC2.

You should check your voltages with GPU-Z (and use it for monitoring Temps and whatever other info as well). It's on the second tab, the sensors tab, and it gives voltage as it's being used.

Oh, and also the voltage readout in Kombustor is incorrect. Use GPU-Z, see the world of GPU overclocking in a whole new light

Thanks mate i have just installed the racer-x regkey...works a treat but no voltage control so a little pointless setting cliocks in CCC and voltage using trixx as you have to load it up anyway?

I prefer using CCC for clocks, and Trixx for voltage. I don't have any of the fuss that I've always had with AB, where it would or wouldn't apply clocks, it would or wouldn't reduce clocks, it would or wouldn't reset the powertune settings, etc. With my main OCing done through CCC, the settings STICK for the first time. Yes, I do have to adjust voltage through Trixx though. I'd rather do it that way then the headaches that AB had been for me with constantly shifting clocks/powertune/etc all the time. My clocks would drop halfway through a 3dmark11 run, and eventually I found out that my second card wasn't even OCing at all even though AB said it was! ARGH! No more of that crap!
