couple sli questions

Thread Starter
1. When doing sli you put the cards in..pop on the sli bracket..and say you have 2 moniters..do you HAVE to plug both into one gpu or can you plug one in one card and another in the other?

2. Where can i buy a moniter stand for 2-3 moniters? Ive only seen one by xfx

I know for sure it used to be that you would have to plug both monitors into the same card in SLI, but I think maybe that's changed w/the newer cards, not 100% on that though

I'm pretty sure it's still 'better' to plug them both into the same card though. Pretty sure that, for temps, it's better for that card to be the bottom card of the two.

I don't have an answer to your exact question but I have heard people recommend pluging the monitor into the bottom card instead of the top to help even out temperatures, when using one monitor and 2 or more cards. Make of that what you will but that would lead me to believe that it may be possible.

I believe your supposed to plug in the monitors into one card, however I don't think it's required. Although, not sure how well it will work any other way

I have NO idea what the people above me were trying to say but here you go:

1) Yes they both have to be plugged into the same card (basically the second GPU functions as a core only...until you start using 3 or 4 monitors, then you can use the other GPU)

2) Samsung makes mounts too...they are designed for their monitors only though because they make thin bezel monitors. XFX and Samsung are the only 2 I've seen though .

GL!
