Need a new graphics card

post #1 of 19
Thread Starter
I'm looking for a single card under $400. I'd like it to be able to run games well this fall (battlefield 3 and skyrim, mainly). I was thinking of this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127581

but I'm not sure, any suggestions? Should I wait?

If i'm not mistaken, BF3 recommended card is a GTS 450, or it's AMD equivalent (forgot name), so you should get something like that.

I'd suggest a 560 Ti or a 6950 non ref and unlock it so you get it for cheap

if your willing to spend a little more you could get 2 AMD 6950s in crossfire and unlock them to 6970s

GTX 570 lightning -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127582

But I think your 6970 is good I think it beats the 570.
See if maybe you can get a 6950 and unlock it.

When a card is high demand, what the companies do is that they take a 6970, underclock, and undervolt it, rebrand it, and call it a 6950. The only differenceis the card's firmware and BIOS. So, by means of software, and if the card is right(lol) you can turn a 6950 into a 6970.
EDIT: AMD also does this with certain CPUS.

I think the equivalent is a 5750 or a 5770.

I would go with the 560 ti though. It's a very good all around card, and will handle basically anything with ease at 1080p.

I have to agree with most of the responses here, however it would help if we knew your resolution.
