Worth upgrade s1283 to Noctua D14?

Thread Starter
Is it worth upgrading my s1283(with gentle typhoon AP-15) to a noctua D14?
It's for cooling my q6600(3.6 ghz). I didnt find any benchmarks of both coolers together. Only at frostytech

Any help is appreciated

To be honest, I don't think it is. You might drop temps by 3C if your lucky. And your not allowed to "bump" or have 2 consecutive posts within 24hrs.

From a Dark Knight? Hell yes. If your case has good airflow, I'd say 5C improvement easily. The H50 is better than the Dark Knight by a good margin, and the D-14 is like 5C better than the H50.

It won't really help your Q6600 reach much higher.
Buy it when you get a new CPU.

At 3.6 you are probably at the point where you aren't going to make much gains with the q6600, overclocking it more. If your temps are good, there is no reason for you to change coolers.

Maybe try overclocking the ram. I see you have some tight timings, but maybe go for that 1200mhz clock with some looser timings. Would see some gains i would imagine from that, and costs no money .

Isn't it basically the same as the Dark Knight other than the DK being Nickel plated ? I don't really think there's that much a difference.

Anyways, I don't know, maybe this will help. It's a comparison here on OCN.

Xiggy Dark Knight -vs- Noctua NH-D14

Seems to be a bit debatable if it's worth it though. For higher overclocks/voltage, I'd say it is imo.

EDIT:
