Help me Pick- Tmobile phone for at&t

Im not a genius at this stuff so Im asking.

I want a nice tmobile phone that will work on the at&t service. One that I can use without the at&t data plan. I get wifi all the places I go.

I was looking at g1s on ebay, alternatives would be great along with a guide on how to accomplish all this. If there are special steps or unlocking needed.

Thanks

You forgot one thing, budget.
Not to mention, why a T-Mobile phone on AT&T?
T-Mobile doesn't really have the greatest selection of phones vs AT&T.

first, LIGHTS is Amazing.

second, I heard that they cant trace the imem and the 3g signal is different so you can use a smartphone with no data just wifi. It sounded like the easiest way to do it. All the other methods don't seem to work. Correct me if I am wrong.

1. Lights is amazing.

2. I don't know about all that. I doubt you they force data plans on you if you have a smartphone. I did that for many years but this is before all the things changed. I doubt they are like Verizon though where they force you to have a data plan. Though if you're looking for a T-Mobile phone and not an AT&T. HTC HD2 would be my pick.

I thought as soon as you bought a smartphone they charged you with a data plan?

Awesome. Wish I could.
But nope, not that I know of. They can't automatically charge you/add something to your plan without your consent.

ATT will toss on their minimum data plan if you buy one of their phones. With an unlocked phone should allow you to bypass that nonsense. Check out the xda-developers forums.

You sir are incorrect. They will not force a data plan upon you.
They'd much rather you accidentally use data without a data plan so they can charge you up the yoohoo.
