AMD Phenom X6 1090T vs AMD Phenom II X4 840/965 - Page 2

Given those weird prices were the lesser cpu cost more then the 2 better ones. Def go with the X6.

Wow you got a bad draw with the Thuban. Most Thubans do those OC's on a good air cooler.

Most Thubans tank around 4.0-4.2 Ghz. Only some go to 4.3-4.4 ghz but even then with voltages right at the limit.

Exactly, but he had water cooling and got a Deneb, which routinely takes 1.5v or more to hit 4.0, to 4.8ghz but a Thuban, who consistently hits 4.0 at 1.4-1.45v, couldn't get past 4.4. Not normal.

Ive owned 3 thubans all hit 4.0 at 1.45v or under, and the 3 Denebs i owned all took more then 1.5v to hit 4.0.

My Thuban hits 4GHz with 1.45v and it's rock solid.
The 965 that I have can only hit 3.9 GHz with the same voltage.

I would wait for BD to come out.Don't get me wrong I love my 1090T and I am going to be keeping this system and I am going to be making a BD rig as soon as everything comes out.

So I guess I will have 2 kick ass PC'S.

very true....if money is tight hang on just another month or so and see some bd benches. Looks like they will be priced well and then you can make a much better decision on which way to go.

It would be cool to buy a hex-core BD and unlock it to an eight.

I am not actually planning to overclock the CPU until the warranty runs out in a year from date of purchase. I may not even overclock later on either, just wondering if your opinions change if the CPUs are all at stock level?

Sorry to be a pain.
