Corsair H60 Push/Pull Configuration

Thread Starter
So i am planning on getting the Corsair H60 and using it in a push/pull configuration but the problem is I would have to use identical fans to get maximum airflow, right? But the problem now is how do I get 2 regular 3 pin fans to work as PWM/4Pin fans and plug BOTH into the CPU_FAN Header?

EDIT: BTW I'm gonna try and install the second fan with zip ties, so would that work ?

EDIT 2: Found out about the Cooler Master EXCALIBUR fan which is PWM so I'm gonna buy 1 at first to replace the one that comes with the H60 and will see what happens.

Any Help would be highly appreciated.

You have a few options, 3 pins fan work on 4 pins motherboard fan header the extra pin is the PWM control which give you the rpm reading.

1. plug the 3 pins straight 4 pins cpu header and plug the other 3 pins to system fan header on your motherboard.

2. get an adapter like this.

3. if you want a converter for 3 pins to 4 pins you get get this.

You should really use identical fans (which would result in maximum airflow), but if they're close to each others airflow and static pressure specs, i wouldnt think that it would be too big a problem..
To plug two fans into the same 3 pin power header at once, you would need to use Y splitter cable like prtuc2 suggested

In order to get both fans to work on the 4 pin CPU fan power header on your MOBO, there should be an option in your BIOS for the motherboard to control a 3pin fan on that header rather than a 4 pin PWM fan but if you cant change it to control 3 pin fans then you could just plug it in anyways except there would be no speed control and your fans would run at 12v.
However a converter like prtuc2 could also be an option for you.

Rather than installing the one fan using ZIP Ties, you could just use two screws on opposite corners of both fans which would look better and probably hold the fans more securely than zip ties.

What do you mean by using screws on both sides ?

Well theres 4 screws that come with the H60 for one fan. So use two screws on each of the fans in a push pull config by having two screws in alternate corners of the fan like this:
ScrwPosition.jpg

And then do the same on the other side for the other fan using the remaining two screws.

Unfortunately i dont know any places to get Computer components outsite of the UK so cant help you there, sorry.
The excalibur fans sound good, i've heard a lot of good things about them.. however considering their non standard frame shape, they may not fit perfectly onto the H60 so you may want to look into that before you make a final decision

I know about their irregular shape but the holes are in the same place so no problem there!
