Honestly, most people who've written those reviews probably have garbage onboard audio or cheaped out on their sound cards.

Makes me mad that not many people know that...
I've heard many mediocre reviews from people using the Xense as a source, which is obviously the idea if they're being sold together.
AFAIK the PC350 is good (certainly better than the OP's current headphones) but not exactly worth its price, even with the bundle.

I have the PC350s (I have had them for about two years, so they are the first edition, I believe that Sennheiser has put out a second edition, and now I am not sure if the ones bundled with this sound card are the exact same as the 2nd release or again slightly different).

But my thoughts on the first edition ones are that they aren't the greatest. I Don't have a dedicated sound card, and I also have the 3.5mm to USB adapter that looks like this:

I have tried listening through the back audio jacks and the USB adapter and I can't really tell the difference. And I actually came here looking for some advice on a good pair of cans, a decent sound card, and a good mic that is separate from my earphones. I don't care if it attaches to the headphones or stands on my desk as long as it has good sound pick up from where it is put.

I am not the biggest audiophile in the world, and the PC350s aren't the worst, but I've certainly heard a lot better. Also reason for me wanting to get a new pair of cans is that I find the PC 350s get uncomfortable after long periods of time. Next ones I get I want to make sure there is more airflow and maybe a better shape.

No really, the PC350 is one of the most overpriced Sennheiser products out there. The PC360 is much improved from the PC350.

maybe the I/O ports can make someone buy the Xense
the DVI breakout cable can do 7.1 analog with 2 6.5 mm for headset cables (IN + OUT)

i dont know about the bundled headset , it think the guys here talked about it

and people say that it has NO support under Linux

EDIT: frankly i think its pointless you can buy either the Titanium HD or the Xonar ST/X and then grab a headphones that from your own choice....................i think it will be alot better

The Xense is really nice how I can easily switch from my 5.1 speaker to headphones at will. Quality-wise it puts the Xonar DX to shame. The headphones aren't the best but they're better than anything I had....makes me want to get a 3.5mm to 1/4cm adapter for my MP3 player lol

Yes it's an expensive package but when I really think about it, I doubt there will be anymore improvements on sound for the next decade, unless they actually make a new type of sound system that literally gives you ear-gasms

There's an open box one up on newegg atm for $197 + $8 shipping (free with shoprunner).

Might be worth a shot since you can always return it if there's a problem. I haven't had any issues with a newegg open box so far.

Just in case someone is interested.
