Upgrade E8400 D0 C2D to Q6600 G0 Quad?

Hi,

Someone is selling Q6600 G0 Quad CPU and I was wondering if it's worth upgrading from E8400 C2D cpu.
Seller said that it was pulled out from Dell computer, so it was never overclocked. I heard that q6600 oc'ed to 3.6ghz can perform better than E8400 4ghz. My current E8400 is oc'ed to 4ghz, but I am not sure if this oem Q6600 D0 can overclock to 3.6ghz. Do q6600 D0 overclock well in general or 3.6ghz is only achieved by golden chip?

E8400 D0 4ghz VS Q6600 G0 3.6ghz

Is it clear now?

Also, I want to know if most of Q6600 G0 can achieve 3.6ghz.

Assuming that u mean G0 for the stepping of the Q6600 (not B3), yes i believe MOST of them OC to 3.6 with ease, I got mine to 3.7 fully stable. But personally I dont think its worth it, stick with the E8400 untill you to a full platform upgrade, E8400 @ 4 will still play ur games marvelously and should do for another year or so.

Q6600 generally get up to 3.6ghz with adequet cooling, but the E8400 I believe will outperform the Q6600 when overclocked to 4.00ghz.
