You will get the biggest soundstages from open headphones, and closed headphones wont leak as much. Which is more important to you?

I say take off the M50s, theyre excellent cans but the soundstage is virtually non-existent.
Any open cans with leak, i think you are looking for closed cans with a good soundstage.

How important is bass?

well I listen to pretty much anything...classical, jazz, electronic, indie, rock etc. etc.

But I don't want overwhelming bass for like dubstep or something.

For 300, I'd say you should really consider the 598's if you're going to consider open backs. I've got a pair and absolutely love them. Have them paired with a FiiO E7 amp. They even look damn awesome in person. My buddy has a pair of 595's and after comparing them side by side, I can say they are absolutely worth the coin. I'm all about open backed headphones for the sound stage, and have never been let down.

Now that I'm done ranting about the 598's. If your budget is 300 USD, you should try considering getting a good pair of open backed for 150 or less, and a pair of closed for the same. Quality cans can be found in this price range. It's a win win. You get what you want and some variety for whatever you might be feeling like that particular day. I also strongly suggest checking out reviews over at head-fi.org

I hate the beige and wood thing with it. I also hate the purple thing with AD700.

I'd say the shure 840s from your list, but you may want to consider ultrasone cans as well.

You're asking for too much out of one pair of headphones.

I didn't like it at first but read too many good things about them. Just my opinion but they look incredible in person. Still my advice on the 2 pairs for the 150 range stands. Gives you options.

I also suggest ultrasone headphones,I used to have some ultrasone HFI-780s,They more of a club or basshead headphone tho. But yea you should really get a sound card or a usb Dac,So the headphones will shine.Running thru onboard audio as a source isnt gonna do them any justice. No matter who suggest otherwise. As your Source is very important as well.

AKG 240 or was it 241 is a closed headphone which would be a good choice for you as well, You would just need a decent enough amp to drive them, as i pretty sure their not hard to drive.
