Best upgrade path?

Thread Starter
Alright when I built this pc I made the mistake of getting the p8p67 board instead of the pro or deluxe, so I cannot do SLI and at best gimped crossfire. Knowing this the next card I get should it just be the best card out there since my dual gpu options are limited? I play at 1600x900 but may up it soon to 1920x1080. I want to ideally max bf3 on my rez when it comes out @ 60fps

Well no one wants to waste money. So if your looking to play just BF3 u dont really need to spend anymore than $300. Also at those resolution's stick with the best 1gb card in your price range. 580/590 would be over kill for that game, but future proof. Its hard to say.

Personally I'd just wait until the game comes out and for some benchmarks, in that way you'll get better overview about the performance of different cards and maybe find something to suit your need.

Well one GTX 580 can play Battlefield 3, I've included a YouTube video from Dice that shows BF3 being played on one GTX 580.

In your case more Vrm isn't going to improve FPS performance either. The card will get great game play as it's the best single GPU on the market. Will get you easily to Q4 2012 where you can bypass Kepler and go for the even better Maxwell series cards coming out at that time.

If your thinking of futher future proofing yourself you can always go with a dual GPU and the GTX 590 or even AMD 6990 would be a great solution and they are evenly priced.

Personally I always go single card solution over dual myself. I just feel there are more issues with dual GPU's over single. Driver updates always improve / favor single GPU solutions over duals as there are more people with single GPU's on the market over duals. Nvidia and AMD focus their attention to the bread and butter before the gravy.
