Upgrade case or not...

Thread Starter
I'm wondering if I should upgrade my case.

Currently have an Antec 900 with a fan controller (which is very bright).

I am building a new computer soon and can reuse this case for my new computer and the parts in my old one (my sig) will be put into a cheaper case.

I will turn my sig computer into a hackintosh and therefore won't be using it much... except for the odd time (not sure if thats a good thing).

I'm wondering if its worth to upgrade my antec 900 or just give my old computer a new case but cheap.

what's your budget for a new case, if you decide to get one

i'm not a big fan of the styling of the 900, so i'm kind of biased against it

Unless you decide you dont like the looks of it then I sont see any real benefits of upgrading a case.

EDIT: what kind of hardware were you looking at putting inside?

If your looking to make a (good looking) rig toss it it has very bad wire management.
although the antec 900 is one of the best as far as airflow goes.

I sold my Antec 900 a few days ago and picked up a NZXT Phantom. Here's my 2 cents.

The airflow on the Antec was great and better than it is now. The Phantom is a gorgeous case but with stock fans it doesn't seem to push much air. Upgrade with 2 more fans in the Phantom and now airflow is great. It has lots of room to put fans where ever which is great.

The main reason for selling the 900 was the cable management. In short: it had none. It was horrible for that. Cables were in the way and airflow was restricted even though there was enough from the fans. It also felt very crammed for me.

End result: I am quite happy. Not missing the 900 at all. Do you need to upgrade? No. But once you get a case with great cable management....you won't go back.

Well I did mod the case a bit, so the wires are hidden through the side (drilled a hole near the Power supply). Its a little bumpy stuffing those wires through.

Either case I buy should have good cable management...

I don't really want to spend a lot on a case. I should of bought one that I saw on sale, but didn't and now its too late... So I want to spend max $70 hopefully. I will be getting a Corsair Gold AX750 for 100 bucks.

So the new comp will have a modular PS unlike the current one.

I'm thinking a bull dozer or 2500k
Motherboard will depend on which i get (any ideas of a good mobo?)
a DVD-RW writer
2 HDD (2TB WD Green, 1TB WD Black and an SSD (haven't bought yet, waiting for a good price)
HD6850 video card
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Corsair Gold AX750

Lower-Middle cost p67

Higer end p67

Lower-Middle z68

Higher end z68

I wasn't sure of your budget or if you wanted p67 or z68. The only reason you would need z68 is if you want SSD caching (see this article) or if you do alot of media encoding.
