Am I the only one who would recommend against a prime? I'd imagine that when your child takes its first steps, you aren't going to have time to make sure you have your framing and angle are perfect. I'd recommend a T2i with the kit lens. The t2i is a great body as other have said. The kit lens isn't bad, it just slow ,aperture wise, and isn't built like a tank. Most people find zooms to be more convenient, and cheaper, than primes. You can always get prime later if you want them.
