How do you organize your data? - Page 2

just FYI (probably already know this) but you can change where the links in your start menu take you: you can change movies to take you to one hard drive, music to another one, and documents to another, etc.

just click your start menu, right click the one you want to change, click properties, and click location.

what i do is put movies, music and downloads onto my second drive array (used to be raid 1) and set the start menu to take me there. that way if i click movies in the start menu, it takes me to my other hard drive to "movies" then i have a folder in that hard drive named "Cinematic Adventures" "TV Shows" "Music Videos" and so on

TV shows go in folders (season specific or not), movies as they are over several volumes, pictures in my pictures, and music in either album folders or single tracks in my pictures.

I have have a home file server.

one drive is personal folders for each user, then one for Downloads (software and other misc), then one for TV shows, then one for Movies. Stuff like pictures and docs I just put in the default folders from the in my user folder on my main rig and then do daily backups to the server.
