Server Bandwith Question

Thread Starter
I am looking to build a server in the near future, but I have some questions to see if it is even pratical before I sink the $$ into it.

My main goal: host my website w/ sql,. host VOIP. Image hosting, ect.
Host several games for my clan and be able to expand as needed.

The 1st question I have: Do I need a static IP address ? ( seems like I would need to) And what kind of bandwith would be required ?

I have a bunch more questions but I might as well start out to see if can afford the bandwith that I think would be required. I know you can rent a server but the price is up there pretty good and I assume that is the reason.

Thanks for any input.

Static Ip is good, but you can get away with a no-ip redirect if you have a dhcp ip.

As for bandwidth, that will depend on how many people are connecting to it. (is fios avalible in your area?)

Don't bother trying to do it at your house. Rent a server/VM in a DC - cheaper up front and much better performance.
