Just built a new x6 and had some questions.

Please check sig.

I know all 6 cores are working, just changed the multiplier and it's over 4ghz no problem.

I didn't notice much of an upgrade between an E8400 and Q6600 and both of them are barely noticeably slower than the x6.

However, there are still times when it's slow and hangs up when processing, not bad, it'll just hang a while when closing a window ect.

I don't think 6 4ghz processors is what's doing it, so I guess that would be the hard drives right?

Would RAID make that much of a difference, or what is your suggestion to making the computer a super internet looking at machine?

That's right, no need to encode or do 3d modeling, just a websurfer and gamer.

RAID 0 is a pretty nice performance boost, but if you have the money just pick up an SSD. It's going to be a huge performance boost and everything is going to be WAY faster than RAID 0.

OK, just started looking into them.

Is a SSD for the operating system "only" a good idea, or do you want your entire hard drive to be SSD?

I've read of some guys who only put windows and a couple programs like firefox on their SSD if they can't afford one of the huge ones right away.

Will this make a noticeable difference? Windows on an SSD?

Thanks for the quick help guys! +rep

Yes Windows on SSD, as well as essential programs like your web browser is what you want to be looking at. SSDs are so expensive per gigabyte, it is a bit impractical to use it for all of your data. A 64 GB drive is a good size to buy as it will offer you a good bit of storage for programs and such in addition to your Windows install. As you go higher you will definitely see the price tags start jumping.

Nice idea. I'm a gamer so I need the big stuff, but 80% or more I'm just surfing.

What linux do you run?

You did give it a vcore bump when you clocked it didnt you? You did stress test your overclock didnt you? Likely an unstable overclock, kinda fits the bill.

I used Prime 95 for 2 hours and also orthos.

All the volts are left at auto as I read you could do this by doing that.
