Hey there

Yep another one of those which is the best cooler question.
But this time added with a poll and actually questioned in view of my sorroundings like case and ram.

So yea there are certain coolers which interest me already. I actually got a first choise too, but I'm totally not sure if it would fit into my case.

My first choice would be the Silver Arrow. But not sure if it will fit with my Ripjaws and sidepanel closed.

Corsair H100 I don't think I would be able to mount it in my Antec1200

Edit: I plan on overclocking to 4ghz and not more.
Looking for a AM3+ board, so the cooler should fit on it too.

what's wrong with your h70?

Actually the copper plate got a scratch it seems and my idle temps with stock settings are up to 40°C with this warm weather atm. Sounds a bit high to me.
And if possible I would like to get rid of the fluid system. Which makes the choice of the H100 and Antec 920 kinda senseless. But if it would perform even better then a Silver Arrow and would fit in my case I might consider it.
But yea as said. I think my temps with the H70 are to high. No idea why. Mounted properly and using MX-2 TIM.

Ambient temps are around 25°C

hmmmm a scratch....i don't know how bad it is, but if it's not too deep, the thermal paste should cover it up. the antec 920 is practically identical to the h70, so i doubt there will be much difference if any. the h100, no idea really, no reviews or anything, but consider the rad size and surface area, it should perform a bit better than both h70 and 920, but that's just theoretically...

as far as air cooling goes, your best bet is silver arrow or d14.

Just the question if it fits into the Antec 1200 with closed side panel and Ripjaws. Actually I plan on modding the side panel. Making the window larger and removing that stupid 120mm fan mount.

yeah, that's why i am also still pending on replacing my frio. i would go for a top notch air cooler, but they're just getting hideously HUGE, which i think look silly. i personally is considering h80, i'm after a tidy looking case, so just waiting on some reviews to surface.

to be honest, i think you're better off sticking with your h70 for now, it does cool less effective than the d14, but might worth waiting on the h80/100 reviews and see how they compare.

and by the way, the d14 will fit over your ram sticks, JUST! not sure about the silver arrow though, i'd imagine it would also fit, but don't quote me on that one!

Yea Silver Arrow would be my first choice and D14 my second. Anyone got experience with the Silver Arrow along in a Antec 1200 and tall rams like ripjaws ?

well that clears the question about the ram. but it seems you have to raise the front fan a little. would be interesting to know if it fits into the antec 1200 still with closed side panel
