evga precision is the same as msi afterburner.
also note, fermi cards (nvidia 400 series) have a locked core and shader clock

Yes they are linked, but they are not locked. In Precision, all you have to do is click the "Link" button and they are no longer linked. I am sure Afterburner has something similar.

Also, with some Asus cards, the only way to view and manage fan speed is with their software (at least it was that way with the 3 Asus cards I have had, an 8800GT, 9600GSO and 9800GT).

Hmm, my current EVGA 450 (as well as my old one) can be unlinked with Precision?

Linked:
attachment.php?attachmentid=214184&stc=1&d=1307475159

Unlinked (my normal clocks for folding):
attachment.php?attachmentid=214182&stc=1&d=1307474850

and an extreme unlinked (not actually using, just to show):
attachment.php?attachmentid=214183&stc=1&d=1307475159

Maybe because I am using older drivers?

then you hit your limit unless you want to take the risk of increasing your core voltage

i could get my best GTS 450 to OC to 960c/1920s/2050m with 1.125v. I get stable on the SLI config at 900c/1800s/1950m @ 1.100v since i've paired my best card with the second best. the worst one can't get over 880c/1760s/1900m, no matter how much i run through it. It's currently at 1.075v
