6950 problems

Thread Starter
hey guys,

I switched coolers on my 6950 to a Gelid icy vision Rev2,put it in and i was not getting any signal on the monitor no matter what i tried.

So i put back on the old cooler and now i get signal and the cards working fine on the desktop but as soon as i put it under load (furmark) the scren goes black (monitor comes up no signal) and the 6950s fan goes 100%.

It wont go back to normal until i restart.

Did you make sure you applied TIM correctly? Also make sure you're not shorting anything out on accident

Hi Nevakonaza, now that you have reverted back to the old cooler what temperatures does the fan give you under load?

Regards,
Harry @ Videocardshop.

I'm sorry for this. But this cards, the 6950s are sooo wrong. They suck. If they are not referenced they suck. They have problems with ram and all other kind of issues. If you still can, I'll recommend RMAing it. Ang get the MSI referenced version. That card is the only one I would buy.

At OP: That seems a very common issue with Aftermarket coolers. But evertime I see they brick their cards. But since yours still post... its kinda wierd. Maybe it gets too hot? What temps do you get on Load?

It's either temps or short.

Don't need to bash on a brand / card.

@Blostorm:

Even if its true you want me to tell him he got the best and flawless card in the world? No. The fact is that the 6950 NON-Referenced cards are bad. Not all of them but pretty much there is a 50%-50% you get a good one, or a bad one. That is enough for me to reject the card totally. I'm not naming any brand. I said that the 6950s Referenced are a better option. I'm not bashing nor brand nor cards

Why so ? Because they unlock ? Take note ALL the new cards can't be unlocked. All the unlockable references are sold out.

Omg... No one said nothing about unlocking. They are just better 'cuz they are referenced. Do you know what referenced means? its the reference AMD gives ASUS, MSI, HIS, XFX to build the cards. But there are cards that the manufacturers disign for themselves and they are faulty. thats all... And 6950s non referenced are disigned quite bad. The ram is faulty a lot of times.
Referenced, they are all the same. Thus they work work better.

^what? Reference doesn't mean that it's automatically better, it just measns amd/nvidia designed it. For example the ASUS DCII and MSI TF2 and TF3 are non-reference cards and are better than reference (excluding unlocking).
