Yup i did apply the Tim correctly,it cant be shorting on anything because its the stock cooler?

Hi Nevakonaza, now that you have reverted back to the old cooler what temperatures does the fan give you under load?

Regards,
Harry @ Videocardshop.

i cant put any serius load on it,if i do i just get a black screen and the monitor looses its signal and my cards fan ramps up to 100% until i hard restart the system.

heres my idle temps last night while just at the desktop doing nothing.. (This is back on the stock cooler btw)

Omg, You guys don't get it.

The Model 6950 for non referenced cards its BAD!! This card in especific is BAD. proof? Go on new egg and look at the reivews... there are a LOT of complaints. More then I have ever seen on high end cards.

Referenced does not mean better. But in THIS case referenced versions are BETTER. IN the 6950s world the referenced is better. This applies to this model of cards... I'm not sure if you will get that. But that's what I'm trying to say. 6950s referenced for instance are better then non referenced 6950s. FACT.

Look at the MSI referenced vs the XFX Non referenced. Just as an example.

You don't know what you don't know.

The revised design is issued by AMD.

You can't base everything off Newegg reviews. 80% Of the people posting a review know nothing about actually reviewing the product.

Show me true facts from somewhere that is reputable and know what they're talking about like TPU, Tom's Hardware, or Hardware Heaven.

The main differences between reference and non-reference are the cooler and the PCB. Both are certified by AMD and are tested to work just as good and if not better(Twin Frozr for example) than the stock AMD design.

something must be shorting out when using the a.m. cooler

What I might do, is cover the bottom of the cooler in electric tape, except for where the main chip makes contact

and then fit the cooler, and take it off, see what you can learn from that...like holes punched into tape

and then maybe just turn it on and see if it messes up then

I never tried anything like that, or heard of it, just an idea

When you say better you mean they overclock higher than non reference?
