Oh I know. I hope AMD has their stuff together and can roll out some decent ones for these 2 new cards. If the reviews say scaling is not all that great I will wait for the 7xxx or 6xx cards. I kind of miss Nvidia.

First of all 6870 is kind of old tech, but yet again the 6870x2 will be competing with the EVGA GTX 460 2WIN so prices should be about the same.

Second of all, the 6990 would probably be the son of the hill cause the asus MARS II (580x2) is also coming out.

As for the 6970x2, I think I heard something where that it will have some sort of new chip called LUCID Chip and therefore with that chip you can put any other gpu with the 6970x2, so technically speaking you can get an nvidia gtx 590 or the new ASUS MARS II and have all the goodies that Nvidia offers and all the goodies that AMD offers with performance that will kill anything else. In my opinion 2x 6970's and 2x 580's together would be better than any other quad gpu out there for a while until they make the 28nm dual gpu cards or possible 3 gpu's on one card since the gpu core is actually getting smaller and therefore have more space to work with.

After showing it off at the recent Computex show, Powercolor has officially released its HD6870X2, which combines two AMD Radeon HD 6870 high-performance GPUs on a single card. It will compete with other dual-GPU boards like the Radeon HD 6990, Nvidia GeForce GTX 590, and the forthcoming Asus Mars II, though according to Fudzilla, it will undercut their pricing by being offered at $449.

The HD6870X2 runs each GPU at 900MHz, with a total of 4GB of GDDR5 video memory running at 1050MHz. Since it uses the 6870 graphics engine instead of the 6970 like the Radeon HD 6990, you won’t get as high performance (likewise, the GTX 590 uses top-of-the-line GTX 580 GPUs), but it could wind up being faster than any single-GPU card on the market. Powercolor uses a combination heatpipe-and-cooling-fan solution to try to tamp down the inevitable massive heat this configuration will produce.

Get rid of the red PCB and it would be beautiful.

4-way Crossfire, huh?

seeing as 6870's only can do 2way Crossfire, will these get modified drivers directly from Powercolor, or will AMD include these in their drivers?

Cool looking card though, but the 7xxx series cards arent far away either though.

not a bad price point I wonder how it will stack up against the 4602win cant wait to see some benchmarks

Na, the standard drivers are fine. The only reason the other 6870s can't do 4-way is because they lack the second crossfire connector. Its not a driver thing.

Wonder how well that cooler handles heat and how quiet this is.

6870 is quite a bit faster than the 460, assuming equal scaling (its pretty close) this should be a lot faster
