Safe voltage for north bridge(AMD 955) - Page 2

The 1.45 on your n/b is a bit high-i have exact 955 and mobo as you have on my second rig,i,m only at 3.9 with cpu but am at 2800 on n/b. my vcore is 1.46 and n/b is 1.3v, and if thoses are your temps stress testing your fine,55c is rule of thumb, but i have no worries going a couple over that if i wanted too, a cooler will do you a lot of good for sure.

1.45v is n/b safe-1.55v is cpu safe, but you should not have to even get close to thoses at your settings.

Come on gays and gals. I spend 5 months looking this stuff after I bought an AMD Phenom II 42 X4 TWKR about 2 years ago and they still haven't change there spec. AMD spec for the CPU-NB voltage on a PHENOM II is 1.55v MAX on air. People here will say 1.45v max, but AMD says 1.5v max. Some people here is running on 1.5v on there CPU-NB voltage for about a year now and there rig is still running fine.

I'm a safety guy - run lots of courses on rigging, plastic stretch vs elastic stretch on steel components etc. The maximum load of a rigging device is exactly 5X less than the break strength. So can you lift a load beyond the rated capacity? You betcha. I use the same logic when it comes to OC'ing. Manufacturers use a CYA approach to avoid the RMA approach. Going beyond safe voltages is where the fun begins. What I'd really like to know is the voltage required to completely fry the CPU. Since they don't tell you that, you just have to find out for yourself...
