actuallly swiftech does chrome plating which is more durable then the nickle plating koolance uses.

But i think koolance blocks look sexier then swiftech.

Yup, heard they do a nice plating job, though their blocks are plane jane looking & a bit expensive. Not sure how restrictive and how well they perform. They are single slot though.

the price is because of the tank plating.. lol..

I feel it's an important endevour to find out the truth about what's really happening here, for the best interest of every WC enthusiast in our community.
+1, My thoughts exactly. The whole point of nickel plating (in the real world, not our blingy computer world) is to inhibit corrosion in harsh environments, like valves in sea water pumps etc. Having to add corrosion inhibitors because you add corrosion retarding nickel plating...is retarded.

Plating companies state care must be taken to not leave full thickness pores in nickel plating, ie proper prep, etc, apparently fairly easy to screw up very thin nickel plating...wouldnt be surprised if just cutting corners....though will be interesting if copper/contaminant issue.

Well the main benefit in PC water cooling is not corrosion inhibition, but oxidation prevention. IMO if it's done right, nickel plating also looks better than plain copper.

I think he's long gone, maybe some of his minions are still roaming and defensive posting. But I doubt it, I've seen a few posts @ xs.org but the threads are being closed since the rage is still going on.

Bottom line, if you are grotesquely dissatisfied with EK based on their hanlding of the situation and their poor nickel products. Best thing you can do is not support them and not recommend them until a valid 3rd party can verify any future "fixed" nickel blocks that don't exhibit this issue. I'm quite sure EK is scrambling to get the nickel done by someone else or revise it but they didn't want to admit to it. meh
post #508 of 691
thing is it doesn't matter what tests are done everyone knows it's absolute crap what Eddy has blamed he is not going to change the result, even if you sent 20 blocks to every proffesional body and they all said the same

Yep, with copper you get oxidation, and the impingement plate blasting the black crap all over insides of waterblock. Or you can add typical corrosion inhibitors via premix, and if they have silicates to protect aluminum (despite no one using alum anymore), then instead of black crystals, you get black sludge. More an issue in auto forums...but applies to some using inhibitors as well, especially since the inhibitors are always "proprietary" so you never know what you are using, and everyone has to put the "alum" protection in there.

Which is why my next build was going to be with nickel cpu/gpu, just will be no EK. And would like to know what issue is, before purchasing.

Or just avoid it all and keep it simple by using nickel/chrome-plated stuff.
