Sidewinder News - June 10 2011

EK has requested that we cease sales of all nickel plated EK Waterblocks until further notice.
Hmm. I wonder if this is exclusive to Sidewinder or if EK said that to all their vendors?

now they halt all the sales on nickel plating products and all vendors take EK nickel plate off the shelf, hope they really do find a solution on nicke plate, because they indeed have the best looking/performance block out there.

EK site, like kiel^cx states, EK halted sales of nickel blocks:

Halt on EK Nickel Plated blocks - 11/06/2011

Dear EK partner/user,

As EK is looking for lasting solution for nickel plating issue (concerning corrosion because of silver coils and copper sulphate additive) we decided to halt sales of nickel plated products till solution is found and tested. Our resellers were advised to halt sales too.

We cannot put users into position, that we replace products and corrosion starts again on new product. Hopefully we will find an answer and tested solution in short while.

We will update you as soon as we have any news.

However, If customer insists on buying EK nickel block, we offer a customer full 24 month warranty on material, manufacturing and corrosion.

So if they have halted sales and are advising their retailers to cease as well because they CANNOT guarantee that replacements wont corrode as well, then does this affect their RMA policy?

I mean, why would they allow people to process RMA's to get replacements if they are now stating, in effect, that they cannot guarantee a repeat of the problem? Again - I realize they may not be able to do this from a financial point of view, but it seems to me they should be allowing refunds at this point.

From the get go, EK and Eddy did not handle this situation correctly.
