Halt on EK Nickel Plated blocks - 11/06/2011

Dear EK partner/user,

As EK is looking for lasting solution for nickel plating issue (concerning corrosion because of silver coils and copper sulphate additive) we decided to halt sales of nickel plated products till solution is found and tested. Our resellers were advised to halt sales too.

We cannot put users into position, that we replace products and corrosion starts again on new product. Hopefully we will find an answer and tested solution in short while.

We will update you as soon as we have any news.

However, If customer insists on buying EK nickel block, we offer a customer full 24 month warranty on material, manufacturing and corrosion.

Edvard König
I like how theyre still blaming it on the silver coil and copper sulphate additives

Guys please remember this has only happened to certain blocks ect ect. The EU have hardly had any reports (in fact from the shops i know only 1 sent back with this issue).

It seemingly has only effected USA, Canada, Aus and these areas.

Man, does this Slovenian have some balls pulling that crap. I distinctly remember seeing a user on hardwareluxx.de post up pictures of his defective EK nickel plated block that was severely corroded. So not only is this paying customer of yours in GERMANY, but he was also rolling a coolant with FOUR CORROSION INHIBITORS in it. Here is the post.

Sheesh, so I stumbled upon this post while looking for a good reason to buy the powercolor lcs 6990 with the EK block preinstalled, and now after reading what seems like a million posts I'm rethinking that choice

I'll have to open up my block and check for corrosion tonight, I bought it back in 09/10 or so and truthfully haven't taken a look inside it since, I drained the loop once when I moved but didn't take the time to pull the block off and look inside of it... now I'm wishing I had here's hoping i got lucky :/

I think EK discovered that defending an indefensible position with speculative nonsense only throws fuel on a fire, spreading the fire to those who may have otherwise remained uninvolved. Now EK may be wisely lying low and concentrating on fixing their problem. Wonder how long it will take others to catch on.

They didn't let you get full copper ones instead? I'm only RMA-ing mine if they offer the full copper.
