Antec Kühler H2O 920 - USB Connection Issue, any help is appreciated. - Page 4

This is the only thread I found regarding this particular problem, so I registered just to share my findings. wink.gif

I spent the evening on this issue. I was getting the exact same errors as OP. I tried all the suggested solutions and still no luck.

Here's my fix:

I could see the little yellow warning sign next to the "Antec CC" driver in my device manager, that got me thinking. I went into the drivers properties and I could see that the driver wasn't signed for some reason.

I could be wrong, but if I recall correctly, I think by default the 64-bit version of Win7 and Vista won't let you run an unsigned driver unless you specifically allow it.

Then I realized that I was running the updated ChillControl V (ver. 1_1) that I got off the Antec site, I didn't even bother trying the one on the DVD that came with the box assuming it would already be out of date...

Guess what?doh.gif

After uninstalling version 1_1, I popped in the DVD and installed version 1. BAM! no more errors. Didn't even have to unplug/plug the USB connection.

On top of that, I ran the version 1_1 install afterwards to see if it would break it again and nope... it upgraded without giving me any drivers problem.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

In that case i believe that Frodzets installations DVD could be an upgraded version (1.1). However the one that was following your product is a 1.0, which might be needed to get the installation right.

It won't work with either the DVD or the one off the site.

Maybe someone could get me the 1.0 drivers? That might help smile.gif

I fixed my problem with the following:

Problem: Same as previously stated by other poster, would not recognize usb, reconnect, etc etc.

Software version 1.0 from the disc. I actually went to Antec to check for an update but couldn't find it. Note to Antec, make finding the Kuhler software easier for morons...

Potential problem: The manual clearly states that the FIRST step is to install the software. I did not do this. I installed the hardware and plugged it in before installing software. I think that this may be what caused my problem but I had already torn down the old system for rebuild before I could install the hardware.

I could have WAITED to plug in the USB and installed the software, then shutdown, plug in USB, and restart......... but in this day and age I really didn't expect to have any problems and thought it would be "plug and play"....that's what I get for thinking.

Anyway on to the FIX..........................
Windows 7 64 bit
EVGA X58 Classified
i920

***I opened Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers

***At the bottom was listed in Unspecified "LC920"

***Assuming that this was the "Antec Kuhler h2o 920"

***I right clicked "LC920" and selected Troubleshoot

***I think I selected Explore other options

***I clicked search for / install software for this device (can't remember exact terms)

***Just use the wizard, doesn't help often but in this case fixed my problem

***Got a message at bottom right saying driver installed

***Device is now listed as Unspecified "Antec CC"

***FIXED and working fine.

It was a lot easier than I was expecting.

I hope this helps some of you!

Cheers,

Blanchimont

hey white, do you still have time to return it to the store? just to try to rule out hardware issues?

Hi,

Could one of you guys post the drivers from the cd/DVD somewhere for download? I cannot find my disc and the drivers from antecs site do not install frown.gif

I didnt install the cooler software before the cooler, and had to do what Magist3r did. cant remember exactly how, but i installed software from their site, i uninstalled, I went to control panel, device manager, and removed "690lc", and then reinstalled software from disc, then in the device manager, i right clicked and "scan for hardware changes" and it popped up, driver installed. then i could do update from antec site. So if you still need software, i can get it to you, not sure what is best way, but we'll figure

Had this problem the first time I installed it, somehow I got it working and didn't give any thoughts to it. Now I bought a new SSD and reinstalled windows etc. and well.. Didn't get it to work.

Now I just got it working. Updated all the .net framework etc. (Not sure if this helped) Anyway the following is the last steppes I took to get it to work.

- Had the software uninstalled.

- The driver was listed in the Device manager under "Other devices" named "Unknown device"

- Right-clicked it and pressed "Update driver software.."

- Browsed manually and choose the ODD (which contained the CD that came with the cooler)(Version 1.0)

- Success! (However, got a popup message from windows saying the driver is not signed and may not work properly etc. bla bla bla)

- Ignored the message and I went on to install the Software that I had downloaded from antec.com (Version 1.1).

- Now I got it to open. Just one thing, I am not able to see the dB. (Just a fan icon) Everything else works like before.

- Note I installed the driver from the CD, and then the newer software which I had downloaded separately from their site.

(Some of this might be completely irrelevant to get it to work, just tried giving as much information as possible since I'm not sure what was the main factor that got it working.)

Good luck!

EDIT: I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64x.

Just a thought for everyone having issues with the drivers/software. Are you running 32bit or 64bit versions of your OS. It is possible that the drivers may have some 64bit compatibility issues.
