Phone upgrade thoughts & opinions...

UPDATE

First, thanks to everyone who replied and offered suggestions/comments/opinions/etc. c:

I've decided I will wait until mid July before making any decision. However, if there are no new phones coming out by then, I am gonna go with the HTC Inspire. I have really thought it out, and it is the most appealing of the three.

Here's why: I really dig HTC Sense UI, and it seems to be the better UI of the three. Tons of options for customizing the phone, mods, dev support, as others mention in this thread, a big selling point.

The 1GHz processor is plenty fast, in fact, looking at a video review on YouTube, it seems the HTC is even more snappier than the Motorola, even though it has a dual core cpu. The issue, the author said, likely has to do with the Motoblur UI.

Anyway, once again, thanks.

--------------------------------------------

So, I'm looking to get a new phone. ^_^

Samsung Infuse, Motorola Atrix, and the HTC Inspire are the ONLY ones I'm interested in, because of HSPA+. O_o

I'm switching from an iPhone 4. I'm interested in a phone that can browse the net good, and also has a decent good MP3 player. Other things, excellent screen, decent camera, nice UI, etc.

Looking at the UI of each, they're obviously different. I'm not sure which is "better", or gives the best Android experience, so maybe some of you can weigh in on the advantages and disadvantages of each, if any.

I'm not really focused so much on internal specs, because they are all plenty fast phones. The main issue with the Infuse is that it'll be $199 vs the other two being only $99. But if it's worth it, price isn't an issue.

Anyway, if you post, please post why you chose the phone you did.

Thanks ^______________^

PS: Do not comment just to tell me that I don't need to upgrade, or ask me why. >_>

You don't need to upgrade.... Iphone4eva

Seriously though, Galaxy S II, it will be the best phone, and it WILL be worth the wait. It doesn't have the GPS issues like the Galaxy S I did.

Infuse if you want a huge 4.5" Super AMOLED+ screen and out-of-the-box HSPA+, Atrix if you want Tegra 2 performance and the accessories, Inspire if you want to mod it with ROMs like MIUI or CyanogenMod 7.

Up for a new phone too - for me it's either going to be the Infuse 4G or wait (and wait) for the Galaxy S2 US release.
If you're due for an upgrade the Infuse is only $129.99 on Amazon (might be even cheaper if you're not on a family plan like me)

My only concern is actual size/comfort of it.
The 4.5" screen will be awesome to browse, type etc, but gotta see how it feels in my hand/pocket first.

For me I'm leaning more towards the HTC device because of the huge dev support it has including Cyanogenmod ♥.

Also I would suggest taking a look at the MIUI ROM, since you're coming from an iPhone. It's basically a hybrid interface between iOS and Android.

Go into a store and have a play with each, the inspire will have the largest dev support by far though so keep that in mind.

Yeah, I looked that one up, very impressed, by specs and appearance. I'll wait until July and see if it comes out. A month isn't too long.

Interestingly, the main thing that turned me off to the Infuse is the 4.5" screen. I mean, it is appealing and I don't have anything against larger screens, except how they fit in my pocket. >_>

But then I was reading/watching reviews, and it seems due to how thin it is, it really isn't all that bad. In fact, in one review the guy put the Dell Streak next to it, and the Streak looked massive even though it wasn't all that "bigger" via screen size. O_O

But still, a bigger screen doesn't exactly justify it's price tag vs the other two. In fact, the Inspire is not much smaller at 4.3"... XP

Atrix to me looks great, nice size screen, not too big, not too small. I was actually leaning more towards this one originally. But then the other two caught my attention.

Going to the Inspire, I read more people liking HTC's interface vs motoblur and touchwiz (I forget what it's called). So, in this regard I feel like this is my best option. I like customizing things, so being able to mod it and having a large base for that is also very nice. c:

Thanks for the heads up, although I am gonna put out the Infuse and look more seriously at the HTC or Motorola. c:

Thanks for the advice. ^_^ I'm leaning more towards the HTC Inspire more and more. c: I plan to wait until July to see if that new Samsung Galaxy S2 get's released, if not I am not gonna wait.

The problem with waiting too long is you could wait forever. There's always gonna be new technology right around the corner. You'll constantly be playing a waiting game. Even if the Samsung GS2 came out a week after I bought my phone, it's not as if I'm gonna be at a loss. XD

I've been meaning to check them out, in fact I was just at an AT&T store not long ago to get a data connect card. Gonna veer off topic a bit....

My tethering days are over after an email from AT&T telling me that if I continue to illegally tether, they'll automatically enroll me in a tethering plan. (Paraphrased)

Yeah, no kidding. They'll remove my unlimited data, put me in their $45, 4 GB a month tethering plan. And I can never go back to my unlimited data. O_O

I called immediately telling them I don't want their tethering plan and I want my unlimited data to remain. They were totally cool with that, but warned if I tethered even once I'll be enrolled.

I used a lot of data, but I am learning that even Verizon is cracking down on the tethering issue. It's only a matter of time until everyone is caught. Good things don't last forever.

With the data connect card, I can connect to HSPA+, it's only $50 a month, and while capped at 5GB, it's only $10 per GB after. Not really a bad bargain imo.

Thanks for your opinion. c:

This is a tough decision. I guess I'll have to see them all in person ultimately. Here's what I can say, I am almost certain the HTC Inspire is what I'm gonna get, but the Motorola Atrix is also a strong contender in changing my mind. The Samsung Infuse is out.

For the price, it has no real advantage, and doesn't seem worth the cost for having a little bit bigger screen.

Thanks everyone for your comments, suggestions, etc. ^_^

Honestly miki... it isn't all that much of an upgrade for you really, the iphone 4 still keeps up with android phones (yes, even dual cores) and they are lovely phones. If you are gong to be out of pocket with this upgrade, don't do it and wait a bit longer (the evo 3D looks awesome), if you won't be out of pocket at all it definitely is viable though... assuming the evo doesn't appeal to you.
