6950 Drivers installation problem

Thread Starter
Hi,

I bought a Sapphire HD 6950 2GB and installed it to my new PC. After installing the drivers from the CD, everything is working out fine. The problem starts when I try to install the updated drivers. I followed the instructions in the AMD website, uninstalling the drivers first before installing the most current version that I've downloaded from their website. But after installation of the drivers, the system does not prompt me to restart and I'm getting an error message that says something like "No AMD Driver found or Incompatible Hardware". I would have to uninstall again and then re-install the drivers that came from CD to fix everything.

I have contacted Sapphire Tech Support but they have no idea what is causing the problem.

Please help. Thanks.

After uninstalling you should restart in safe mode and use driversweeper. Then after it reboots, install the new driver. Then just restart it even if there's no prompt to do so. I don't get a prompt either but after restarting on my own it always works

Hmmm, everything is ok now after installing the previous driver release version 11.4. Tried to install Ver11.5 several times without success. Anyhow, Ver11.4 should be better than my previous drivers Ver10.12.

glad it worked. why isnt 11.5 working though? so you

1.uninstall drivers
2.restart in safe mode run driversweeper
3.restart again
4.install 11.5 and restart again.
5.should work?

I got scared to use driver sweeper after reading the thread of BradleyW on how to unistall drivers. I basically followed his instructions, 11.5 would get errors but 11.4 works fine.

Sapphire tech just told me to wait for the next release and see if i will still have problems.
