Modding a mobo tray.

Thread Starter
What would be the best and easiest way to cut those big lumps out of the mobo tray and make it flat? I want to cut it for some more cable space and then cut out a square for the cpu bracket. What tool would be the easiest to get it done in a garage?

I'd try sanding them down one by one very slowly, cutting them out would be pretty much impossible. Might take some time but i think it'll be your best bet, try using a large sanding disc with a decent powered drill, work slowly and you should end up with a decent result.

A rotary tool (Dremel) with a metal cutoff disc would make quick work of that.

Ditto; or if you have a hole saw, you can clamp the panel to a block of wood and cut it out with the hole saw.

like others have said, hole saw or dremel.

Dont even waste your time trying to sand them off.

Once done, an EXPERIENCED welder ought to be able to patch them up without warping everything.
