I am not saying this applies to anyone but here my exp.

So I am waiting for ASUS to put it in writing but I documented my conversation with them last night. They say:

1. The 90 day warranty sticker on the refurb open box is the warranty I get from Newegg.
2. My serial number has a 3 year warranty from ASUS.

I called newegg and the person I confronted said ASUS is telling them these cards are open box and not refurbished. So they are blaming ASUS.

I don't like what is going on and we should keep calling them on this. There is a section for refurbished cards if they are refurbished. Since mine works great and ASUS says I have a 3 year warranty I will keep mine.

I bought a 6970 2gb asus card in feb, and it is currently being RMA'd the box came from newegg refurbed, I just told them I bought it from newegg, didn't mention open box or refurb packaging. They didn't ask for a receipt just my serial, and everything went smooth thus far, if you are interested I'll pm you to let you know overall how it went when the package gets here.

I was very clear and asked them why they say it has a 3 year warranty over the phone but the box said it has a 3 month warranty.

Are the open box MSI cards on newegg refurb? I got a MSI GTX580 Lightning for $246.99 which will be delivered Friday. What has me puzzled is that card on newegg if bought new has a replacment only return policy. If the card was not defective why would they be returning it when they can't get a refund? Not happy with the overclock they were getting? Also, the same card was selling open box for $399 earlier in the week so why drop it to $246? I'm thrilled to get it at that price but I just hope it's the right card and it works.

I got the same doubt, and not only for MSI videocards. For all of them.

Could you give the link to the VGA you purchased ? ( even if its out of stock)

Thanks !

I have no idea why these cards are returned / open box. But at these prices, you can't really complain. It seems like there are rarely any horror stories on Newegg's open box vidoe cards as well.
