Need help with overclocking i7 920 D0 to 4.0ghz

Thread Starter
Hi guys,
I'm not very good at this whole overclocking thing. Before any of you send me off to read so-and-so's guide, I'd just like to say that I've probably already read it at some point. I've spent hours pouring over overclocking help, guides and how-to's, and they always just leave me more confused than the last. :/ I just need a down-and-dirty, "set X to Y and A to B" kind of help -- not the advanced technical explanation every guide seems to provide. I just wanna know how to get my CPU to 4ghz!

Sorry if I'm coming off as pushy, I just can't seem to get any OC I make to be stable and I'm pretty sure it's because I lack the guidance of those who know how. Even my current OC (3.6ghz) only manages to stay stable for 2-3 passes of BurnTest.

So, my fellow Intel Zealots, please help a brother out -- how can I get my (sig)rig to 4.0 ghz stable?

Thanks so much!

Since you have read all the guides I assume that you know that you need to monitor your core temps and make sure that they do not go over 80C and that you have to stress test your OC to make sure that it is stable.

Here are the BIOS settings that I had for a 950 / P6T Deluxe v2. Since you have a EVGA MB the some of the BIOS settings will be called different things, but all the settings should be there, they will just be called something else. Maybe someone with an EVGA BIOS will post their settings for you.

The below settings are for a 4.2GHz OC. You will need to adjust the below DRAM timings for your RAM. If you do not know what they are then post the OCZ part number of your ram so someone can look at the specs and tell you the timings.
