Playerbase is not as relevent as you make out.

The 360 FPS market is very relevant. I'm pretty sure you'd find them congested around CoD and Halo and perhaps GoW. The PS3, while it has FPS' in number, has less..."massive" FPS', (Killzone, Resistance etc, have a playerbase that is smaller than other stuff - I get that CoD is also on PS3, but its not as big as it is on 360). There's less competition and more chance for Dust to get a foothold. In that context, the audience for the PS3 is potentially larger, due to that lesser competition).

Also, a big reasoning behind A) no PC version and B) no Xbox version is:

a) CCP wanted a different playerbase, not EvE players playing DUST and being the only thing keeping it going. They wanted to expand the franchise. PC would not be a good way to do that.

b) I don't see much free DLC on Xbox and thats what CCP wanted to do with expansions for DUST. Free. Now, I can vaguely remember Super Meat Boy having to create a work-around for this. MS doesn't seem very accomodating to free DLC's, (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news...rough-Loophole) and i think this partially pushed CCP to just forget about the 360.

Seen as eve is a subscription game, it makes sense they would not release on PC, if the game is good might affect eve subscriptions.

I don't play basketball on 6-foot elementary-school hoops, and I'm not playing a shooter with a control scheme so imprecise that games constantly have to help players hit targets. I cannot enjoy a shooting game at a fundamental level if it uses thumbsticks, period. Some control schemes just aren't designed for certain types of games, and as long as using a mouse in a console FPS game is considered "cheating", I want no part of that scene.

Have a read of the dev releases listed on the official Dust site and you should be impressed.

Console kids fighting it out in my P.I modules sounds freaking awesome.

Not sure how impressed I'll be when I log on to find that 1_fuX0R3d-UrMOM and his buddies seized control of my P.I gear for another capsular overnight, but its great to have that added depth and complexity.
This, but I don't really care how impressive it is. I just want other people's stuff.

You don't buy a computer just so you can play games. The difference in cost between a run-of-the-mill desktop and a gaming-capable machine is about on par with the cost of a console. Gaming-oriented upgrades to said PC are approximately as expensive as the extra cost of games on a console (especially if you throw in the Xbox Live subscription fee) will be over an identical amount of time, at least if you buy about as many games as I do and only upgrade when it's really necessary, not when two games come out that you have to run at 8xAA with HBAO off instead of 16xAA and HBAO on. Granted those latter numbers can shift quite a bit since things like screen resolution, game purchasing habits, and what exactly you consider acceptable gaming settings/frame-rates are can all vary wildly from user to user.
Exactly that is the point. Also, PC games cost as much as PS3 games most of the time, and MMOs will definitely cost the same, therefore saying that the PS3 + games will cost as much over time is a bit unbelievable. Also, a console generally has a lifespan of more than half a decade, whereas on PC terms, games and PC components will have matured quite a bit, leaving upgrades to play the latest PC games costly.

Probably won't help, but dust will also be a move title. I'm 100% a mouse + KB guy so I get what your saying there. I won't write it off though just because it's not for me. I'm excited to see what it does to the eve universe.
