If a game is multi platform, with all platforms being released around the same time frame, it makes sense to create/use an engine/code that makes the development easy, and faster, over all platforms rather than just one.
Now you guys can sit here and whine about consoles dumbing down your graphical experience, but let's face it, there's more money to be made across all platforms rather than just catering to a niche crowd that are actually in the minority (ie: high end PC gamers).
The quicker you guys face that fact, and learn to accept it, the less dissapointed you will be in the future.
Now don't get me wrong, as a PC gamer I would love more focus on high end PC gaming from developers, but realistically I know that is not going to happen on a massive scale anytime soon.
I always expect every game to be a let down, I've stopped bigging up games, because I know for a fact they'll miss something I want in the game!
When I heard there were no Spears in Skyrim, I went on a big nerd rage in my head, I wanted to be a Argonian Spearman, my dreams of that happening in Skyrim are now dead, haha! Imagine, a small Lizard, vs a huge Dragon, it'd look really bad ass! Two creatures of similar elk battling to the death.
I have very low expectations for games now, so when they're released and I play them, if they've added lots of features that I haven't read about or seen before, I'll pick-up on them, and it'll be a new addition to features I'd like in the next game I purchase.
Just small things like, in an FPS being able to shoot out lights, or smash windows, cut through fruit with your knife, pick items up, throw them, make all furniture in the room, including pictures, wallpaper etc... be able to come off or get damaged, or when shot instead of showing the same bullet hole for every texture, actually break bits of the plasterwork off, and singe the affected wallpaper.
Or in an RPG, instead of invisibly having your weapons attached to your body, or pull your huge weapon out of no where. Actually have slots on your body where each weapon would go, have a sheath for each weapon, show every weapon you're carrying on your body... have a large container that you can see in the game world... So if you were travelling long distances, you'd need a way of getting all your gear from A to B, without an invisible bag. Stuff like that in a game, would have me enthralled!
Being able to go out into the wilderness, chop a tree down, make a bow, some arrows, a Spear, a little wooden house! Basically, Minecraft with Crysis graphics and physics, with Dark Messiah Might and Magic's swordplay! Perfect game.
