I'm not. How is that relevant to the thread?

Judging CPUs by clockspeed is like judging a gamer on his K/D ratio on CoD.

I always wonder about turbo boost. How often is a single core ONLY utilized for ' server' chips that it would actually matter?

The 3.33Ghz stock clocks to the 3.46Ghz of the 990x.

the 990x turbos to 3.73Ghz
the 980x turbos to 3.60Ghz

but the 990x OCs much better (from what i have seen anyway)

Ok? I'm well aware of their specs, no need to quote them. Still failing to see their relevance in this thread.

It would be best to just hang on to those original Core i series chips until the AMD BD & Intel's new CPUs hit the table, we gotta see what BD is about before we get all worked up, SB is awesome granted, and because enthusiast on here only care about OC mainly, stock means little to us, only OC.

The entire point of OC is to get more performance out a CPU without paying for Intel's & AMDs minor bumps to their base CPU, which is only a marketing scheme for the clueless consumers...

Hooray!

Finally! Speaking of consumer CPUs, I bet Intel will release the Core i7 2800k with a Turbo of 4Ghz at least on one core before AMD gets the chance to claim that milestone with Bulldozer.

For most people here on OCN with 2500k's and 2600k's this might not be a big deal, but it's certainly an important achievement in that Intel is confident enough in the chips' long term reliability to make 4 Ghz part of the specification. And it's great for marketing, of course.
it's still 4 GHZ via Turbo and not 4 GHZ base clock as the FX-8150.
4 GHZ base clock without turbo on ALL cores is what I call a milestone.

AFAIK, that's still a rumor, nothing official has been launched on any Bulldozer base clocks.

According to where this rumor surfaced, it was a late April Fool's joke:

4GHz really isn't a milestone anymore. I can get my 980x to 5GHz with regular air cooling. Although it will be nice to have a processor at that speed for people that really don't know how to overclock.
